This six-week professional development program is a comprehensive online course supplying teachers with the skills and knowledge necessary to implement climate change instruction into their classrooms. This course will provide teachers with foundational learning around the causes and impact of climate change and global warming. The scaffolded, weekly learning modules also cover solutions to the climate crisis, the need for urgent action, and climate justice. Teachers will be introduced to resources to use in their classroom and tasked with developing their own climate literacy-based lesson plan. The course also includes three live webinars with subject matter experts.
Presidio Graduate School is the world’s first graduate school to place sustainability at the center of every program they offer. In 2020, they identified a gap in teacher preparedness to teach climate literacy and launched a Climate Education for All program with the mission of providing all teachers with the knowledge, skills, and tools they need to confidently educate the next generation on climate change science, causes, and solutions.
