Ask a Question

Synopsis
  • This resource contains an interactive map and data table that shows the share of primary energy from coal beginning in 1965.

.

Teaching Tips

Positives

  • You can view the data as a chart or table.
  • Pressing the play button will show the changes in data over the years.

Additional Prerequisites

  • Learners need to be familiar with the various sources of energy, and classifications.
  • Educator would need time to get familiar with this interactive media and decide on how to implement it with the learners.

Differentiation

  • There are other related interactive maps for other sources of energy.
  • This can be used to create awareness about one or more of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Scientist Notes

The resource explores relative share of energy production from coal from different countries. Some countries have missing data for 2019. This is a limitation. However, datasets were normalized to a conversion factor of 277.778. There is no contradiction in the method and this resource is suitable for teaching.
