Synopsis
This printable activity book provides students with word searches, crosswords, informative stories, coloring pages, and mazes to increase their knowledge of emergency preparedness for extreme weather.
Students will learn how to prepare for and react to thunderstorms, tornados, extreme cold, floods, hurricanes, earthquakes, extreme heat, and wildfires and will receive a certificate to commemorate the completion of the activities.
Students may benefit from learning some of the coping strategies for dealing with difficult emotions, as talking about emergencies can be troubling for students.
Early finishers can color the pictures after finishing the activities.
Older students can choose one of the emergencies to research further and find data for their local area.
Teachers can discuss how climate change may increase the frequency and intensity of these emergencies.
