Graphs/Tables Grades 6-8, 9-12
Synopsis
This resource includes an interactive line graph, map, and data table that displays Annual CO2 emissions from flaring globally and for various countries and regions.
The graphs are customizable, and all visuals and data can be downloaded.
The interactive provides three different ways for students to visualize the data.
The line graph and map are animated to illustrate change over time.
Additional Prerequisites
Students should know how to read a data table, line graph, and global map.
Teacher may need to provide background information on flaring.
Differentiation
In math classes, this can be used as a practical application of the uses of line graphs.
Physics classes could use this resource to highlight the negative impact of flaring and challenge students to find alternatives to this practice.
Cross-curricular connections can be made with social studies and geography classes by exploring the similar characteristics of countries with low or high levels of emissions from flaring.
